Gross and fine motor skills were on our mind today. We didn’t tell the children that, I mean, why spoil the fun? The children didn’t need to know!
An epic assault course was set up, including the flowing challenging and aptly named obstacles: The River Crossing, Mother Crocodile, Baby Crocs, The Spider’s Web, Tunnel of Dark, Hunter’s Trap and finally, Horse Jump!
After observing a few of the children taking a real interest in knots in previous weeks, we thought it was about time to start learning a basic knot. The whole group learnt an overhand knot using practice ropes and later applied their new found skill when threading pasta on twine, to make jewellery.
There was some wonderful play going on today, with children coming up with their own games and exploring the whole woodland.
Roll on next week!
