Second session with our new recruits at St Stephens Junior School today. The glorious sunshine could of had us thinking it was the middle of summer.
Selecting the correct materials for a finely tuned fire was the order of the day, followed by making shmores. Then eating these until we felt reasonably uncomfortable!
Some of the children were in a creative mood and had their own ideas for clay ornaments. There were some super designs, incorporating autumn elements from the woodland.
Others enjoyed digging trenches, as this was something they had started with their class. Some pieces of pottery of varying colours were discovered, which led to discussion about what they were and why they were there.
Finally we ended with a good hot drink and a story with a moral, around the fire.
