So today at St Stephen’s we’ve been up to a multitude of things.
Last week the children were keen to have a go at getting a spark from a fire steel. So today we set the children up with a bag of cotton wool and plenty of time to practice lighting it. There were lots of successful fire starters.
In addition the children are becoming masters at creating rope swings, and several popped up across the woodland.
We were extremely grateful that Kathryn was able to step in and help out today, as Tim was at a training day. With her assistance the children created some wonderful woodland puppets and decorated them with twigs and leaves from the woods.
At the request of numerous children, today’s session ended with toasting marshmallows by the fire. The prefect way to end a Forest School session.
